PK-8 Academics

St. Augustine Cathedral School offers preschool through eighth grade with a mission to instill in our students our core values of faith, knowledge, and stewardship. 

According to the American Bishops, Catholic schools are called to realize the four-fold purpose of Christian education: 

1. to proclaim the Gospel message, 

2. build a Christian community, 

3. participate in liturgical worship, and 

4. live a life of service to others.

St. Augustine Cathedral School provides an education with Christ at its center. We cultivate our students' faith and values, and their intellectual and creative gifts.

Core studies include Theology, English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. 

Phonics is taught, as are spelling and vocabulary. Multi-sensory and tactile approaches are used to present new concepts. Equal balance between group and individual work is utilized. 

The school day begins at 7:50 am with prayer and ends at 2:50 pm with prayer.

In addition to the core studies, our students also participate in Non-Core Classes. We believe that our students flourish when provided with opportunities beyond the traditional classes, which include art, foreign language, band, and more. 

After the school day is over, we offer affordable, safe childcare for our students through After-School Care Program that provides a safe, structured environment for children. 

Additional opportunities exist for those interested in extracurricular activities. Students actively participate in Mass weekly in the Cathedral. Through prayer and Theology classes, teachers, students, and parents share the richness of the Catholic faith. With the faith life in school and our unique community service program, we instill in our students the means to follow Christ and to care for those in need of our help in the school, the parish, the community, and the world.
